If I am not mistaken the radio singer Ray Heatherton, the so-called Merry Mailman, helped to popularize this song, ( a good side line, as well Christmas makes bigs bucks for the post office!) I had this record as a kid. For some odd reason it isn"t widely played, I have not heard it on the Yule stations for a couple of seasons. It is a good family type song, nothing offensive.

When did wilf carter write joly old st nick?

Wilf Carter, a Canadian singer-songwriter, is often associated with the song "Jolly Old St. Nicholas," but it's important to note that the song was actually written by the American composer and educator William A. McCulloch in the late 19th century, specifically around 1865. Carter, who was active in the 1930s to the 1950s, popularized many traditional songs but did not write "Jolly Old St. Nicholas."
