An eagle would totally win even though the eagle would only attack if been attacked and vultures go only for dead meat.

Strength: The lion has larger and more powerful musles then the Eagle. So the winner in this category is lion.

Speed: The eagle can reach speeds of up to 160 miles per hour, while the lion can only reach 50 miler an hour. So the winner is eagle.

Protection: The lion's skin protects it like armor on a tank while the eagle has minor protection. So the winner is lion.

Resistance: The eagle can resist a swipe of the lion's paws, but the lion has thick skin which means it can resist more then 5 swiped of the eagle's claws.

So the overall winner is the lion. :)

The user above me is misinformed. Lets assume we're speaking of the largest wolf (Gray Wolf) and largest lion (African Lion). First we'll talk about the Lions anatomy.

Height: 4 feet

Weight: 550lbs

Teeth: 4 inches

Claws: 5 inches

Speed: 35 mph

Jumping: 11-14 feet high, length 36 feet

Bite force: 1,000lbs

Now wolves:

Height: 3 and a half feet

Weight: 175 lbs

Teeth: 2 inches

Claws: 4-5 inches

Speed: 45 mph

Jumping: 6 ft high, 5-10 feet length

Bite force: 700lbs

(All of these are maximum or close to maximum measurements)

So you can clearly see, from the start, Lions have a HUGE advatantage just looking at them anatomically. Speed won't do much for a wolf unless it runs away. Now we can look at the game they might hunt. (Animals known to have been killed and eaten by these animals). Including how lethal they can be (scale of 1-10)

Already the lions have more competition and hunt bigger/heavier/more lethal game. This just shows the physical brutality of the lion. Now this is enough in most people's minds. Lion and wolf with the intent to kill, in a set setting, strength will win. That's how it is in the animal kingdom. One might argue which is smarter. As a pack (or pride) hunter, a lion is equally as smart as a wolf. Both predators flush the prey and use team work to take down the bigger prey when necessary.

Other comments:

Wolves do have more endurance than a lion. They cannot stay at their maximum speed forever, but a wolf hunt typically lasts longer and ends due to the prey being worn out.

Lion hunts are usually quick and end when either the lion gets gassed or the lion kills it's prey.

Wolves are better survivors. They typically live in harsher environments and although they have less competition than lions, they do have less prey.

A lion's life is a constant moving one. Prides travel together and typically hunt every 5 days or so (unless they eat a big meal). Their size gives them the advantage of hunting bigger game, but their enormous muscle capacity means they eat up more calories, forcing them to hunt more.

Verdict: A lion will easily kill a wolf. A pride of x amount of lions would easily kill a pack of x amount of wolves.

Although, a pack of wolves can be considered better hunters than a pride of lions.

The falcon is a bird while a lion is a mammal. Lions are probably 100 times heavier and even more times stronger and powerful than a falcon. A lion can kill a falcon with just one swipe of its paw. There is no comparison or a fight. There is no way a falcon can beat a lion. It can probably fly away and escape.
