Corporal Max Klinger suffered a brief period of deafness due to a grenade going off close to him. He almost received his discharge on medical grounds, but at the last moment his hearing returned.
In the final episode/movie of M*A*S*H, Father Mulcahey went deaf after trying to save some POWs from shell fire. However, a spinoff show - AfterM*A*S*H - starring Mulcahy, Klinger and Colonel Potter had Father Mulcahy regaining his hearing in the first episode. (The spinoff show did not last very long.)
