Vader's second secret apprentice was named Tao. Tao was originally a Jedi padawan. He was the sole Survivor of a group of Jedi that tried to kill Vader on Shumari. Darth Vader easily killed most of the Jedi attacking him until only Tao was left. Instead of running away, Tao gave in to anger and continued to attack Vader. Vader sensed this and eventually swayed Tao to the Dark Side and made Tao his second secret apprentice. Tao was discovered and captured by Palpatine, who forced Vader to mortally wound his own apprentice, just has he had forced Vader to do to his first apprentice. Tao was taken back to Shumari to die. Just before he died, Tao saved Vader's life from a Tusken Raider who nearly killed Vader.
