Mark Dinning. This song, one of the best "dead teenager songs" in my opinion, has been covered by Donovan, Dickey Lee, and perhaps others, but Dinning was the original in 1959.
Donovan didn't cover Mark Dinning's 'Teen Angel' he wrote his own song, also called 'Teen Angel'. It was the B-side of 'Hurdy Gurdy Man'.
The original 1960 one hit wonder was sung by Mark Dinning, brother of the author (Jean).
Mark Dinning and Sha Na Na both released copies of this song although it was first performed by Mark Dinning and Alex Murray in 1959 as it was Mark Dinning's wife, Jean, that wrote it.
