OK, that was the first answer but i find MANY flaws in it. Number one, the 9 tailed fox almost beat Minato (4th hokage). So, Minato is not first. It is probably Naruto or Madara because in the manga, it said one day they will fight each other. In my opinion (in t.v. good guys always win.) Also, in one episode when Naruto first met Itachi, Jaraiya said that he could kill Itachi and Kasami by himself. Itachi is stronger than Oruchimaru. So is Sasuke according to the manga.

Current (not including deceased one) strongest character will be between Madara, Kabuto, Sasuke, and Naruto. Most likely Madara or Kabuto, one has 100k zetsu, ems, and rinnegan, the other one has an undead army with him. The two of them went on war with the whole world, what can't they do!?

If you are asking for the overall strongest character including the dead one, I would say Sage of the Six Paths, he is the God of Shinobi, created the moon, tamed the juubi, and posses the some of strongest techniques in the series like Izanagi.

i agree on the part you said madara is the strongest as of yet however the second strongest will have to be naruto not only was he able to crush pain but he is also able to control the nine-tails power furthermore to be able to control your tailed beast you have to be able to defeat it and so naruto did plus zetsu even admitted it that naruto is stronger than sasuke so yh naruto will be the strongest

Ur right about madara being one of the strongest, but is the show named Madara Shippuden? No, naruto is the strongest because he weilds possesion of the nine-tails and the sage-mode. Plus he wiped out all six pains by himself, and his dad is the fourth hokage. He's also able to upgrade the rasengan, and can weild all five, styles; water,fire,wind,lightning,and earth. Btw, How many enemies does naruto defeat? and naruto has the power to seal the nine-tails now, he can probably stop madara from unleashing the 7 possesed tailed beasts if he can seal the nine-tails, as long as naruto doesn't get cought using the nine-tails power in berserking rage, where his mind is open to possess, naruto is the strongest.

Right now, in the Anime, its the Pein/Pain Arch, so I'm guessing Pein/Pain (however you want to spell it). SPOILER:

In the manga, I would guess Madara, because:

1.) He is the one who summoned Kyuubi at the last secret ninja war, to destroy Konoha. It takes an immense amount of Chakra, energy, and overall skill to do that.

2.) He is the true leader of Akatsuki, Pein just took orders from him.

3.) Madara is an Uchiha; Therefore has Sharingan. Mangekyou Sharingan.

4.) It was under his order that the Uchiha Clan should attack their rival clan, that command was the one that made Konoha send Itachi to annhilate his own family.

5.) Madara managed to disguise himself as Tobi, an immature, childish, goofy ninja in Akatsuki.

I doubt Kakashi's Sharingan (Mangekyou or not), could take out Madara's so Kakashi is out of the question.

Jiraiya is dead so....

Tsunade, even with her super human strength, can't deal with the Sharingan, atleast not Madara's.

Itachi, is younger and therefore less experienced than Madara.

Sasuke is yet even YOUNGER than Itachi, so... yeah....

Naruto, WILL become strong enough to rule the world, come on people, everyone saw

THAT coming. But right now the Kyuubi container is still too, powerless.

Sakura may have inherited Tsunades superhuman strength, but she still can't get past her shishou's power, so its highly unlikely she could kill Madara.

Shino, Ino, Kiba, Temari, Kankuro, Lee, Neji, TenTen, Shizune, and all those other characters including the remaining Akatsuki wouldn't be able to surpass Madara either.
