Zac claims in many interviews that he could not dance before he went into rehearsals for High School Musical although says he has improved since taking the roles of Link Larkin in Hairspray and the High School Musical trilogy He danced in community theater productions around age 12, and before that he says he was always singing and dancing around the house, which annoyed his parents. He was stricken by appendicitis in January 2008 while filming 17 Again. His appendix was removed that night and he returned to the set a day later.
