Ringo Starr debuted with The Beatles, shortly before they recorded their first single, "Love Me Do".
It partly depends on what you mean by the Beatles; the Quarrymen (which was Lennon's first band and which went on to become the Beatles) first performed in Woolton (a suburb of Liverpool) at a church Fete in 1957. It's one of the most significant events in music history as it was also when John Lennon met Paul McCartney.
In 1959, as the Quarry Men, they started playing at the Casbah Club in Liverpool which was run by Pete Best's mother. In 1960, as the Beatles, and with Pete Best as drummer, the played at the Indra Club in Hamburg for 48 nights, then at the Kaiserkeller for a further 58 nights. On their return to Liverpool, they play at the Cavern Club, followed by a return to Hamburg at the Top Ten Club, then back to the Cavern Club which is where Brian Epstein sees the Beatles for the first time, and the rest is history.

They played at a place called the Cavern Club. They kind of formed, actually, at a church social where Paul met John for the first time. The travelled back and forth to Germany also. In fact, when they returned to England, one time, many people thought they were German, a lot because of their hairstyle, and a lot because the billing read "Straight From Hamburg".I'm sorry, but the first part of this answer is really wrong. The Beatles played several club dates before they got into the Cavern Club. The group didn't play the Cavern until08/07/1957, and that was without Paul McCartney who was away at scout camp with his brotherMike. Between the day Paul joined the band (07/06/1957) and that date they played parties, clubs, and other events around Liverpool.
The Cavern Club is the Club that the Beatles played many times when they were first starting out in the early 1960's. The club was actually a small and dark and crowded little place, and The Beatles were the ones to make it famous. It is still in Liverpool today, but not the original location. That one was shut down and it was re-built in a different location.
They first performed at the Cavern club.
The Cavern
I think it is at the Cavern club.
The Cavern
Love me do or please please me
Great old hits like Long Tall Sally and Some Other Guy.
The Cavern Club was made famous because the Beatles played there when they were first starting out. This was also the place where Brian Epstein first heard the band play.
At that time they had not even released there first record, but were very active in the Cavern in Hamburg, Germany. A full history of the Lads from Liverpool can be read on the link below. In August,1961, the Beatles got their first season in Hamburg, Germany, playing 48 nights at the Indra CLub.
The Beatles formed in Liverpool, so most of their early performances were there - mainly at the Cavern Club. (Though they also toured Hamburg, playing the Reeperbahn for several months).it was called the cavern club the Beatles played their first hits their and later went back and forth to Hamburg, Germany.
They played their first payed gig in Liverpool England (1961). The venue was called The Cavern Club.
In August 1960, just before they left for their first Hamburg visit.
Between 17 August - 3 January they played in Indra Club in Hamburg. I think it was their first performance on 17th August 1960 with their name The Beatles.
