Well at the end of the freeza saga, vegeta stayd at earth. When the trunks saga began Vegeta was allowed to live with Bulma's family. Yamcha became kinds jealous. Than Bulma started to take good care of vegeta, like providing him with food and clothes. In the end she was even trying to nurse him back to health, for Yamcha, that was a reason to dump her.
