After seven seasons, when Bea Arthur decided to leave the show, NBC decided to end the series. Golden Palace on CBS was a spin-off continuation of the series which starred Betty White, Rue McClanahan & Estelle Getty. It only lasted one season ending in May 1993.

Why has golden girls reruns on Dish been stopped

Bea quit the Golden Girls because her contract was up and she wanted to to other things like sing with a band.
