In spite of his savagery when carrying out his duties, Furio was probably one of the most restrained of all the gangsters. He resisted Carmela (although very close when once saved by AJ) considering the huge chemistry between them, and he once restrained himself from pushing Tony into the whirling blade of a helicopter which could have freed up Carmela to be his own. All in all, Furio was one of the more "honorable" of the Soprano crew. While he resented Tony in a big way for his infidelity to Carmela, Furio lived by the old Sicilian code which decreed that one NEVER messed around with the wife of another mobster, least of all, the BOSS'S wife. There was an important scene from Furio's prior trip to Naples for his father's funeral. A patriarch of the old country family warned him to get Carmela out of his head once and for all. Furio's final journey ' back to Naples, after which we see him no more, is not to do a hit. He know he's getting too close to consummating this thing with Carm. When she offered to help him redecorate his home in Jersey, he knew he was soon to pass the point of no return. So as a matter of honor, he got out of town, for good. Later, when Carm spilled the beans to Tony about her feelings for Furio, she put Furio at great risk as Tony had a contract placed on Furio's head back in Naples. [Like her mother, Carmella didn't know when to keep her mouth shut]. What we don't know is if that contract was carried out.
