Itcahi would of never gained the mongekyo sharingan because as you may know his original plan was to place all his powers into Sasuke, and give his own eyes to Sasuke.
But i imagine if he gained the eternal mongekyo sharingan he would have some of sasuke's powers and he would be able to see the light clearly.

The new sharingan he gained also granted him a technique called amerterasu which allows him to control a kind of black fire that has the ability to burn a human to the bone. He can also use Itachi's famous Tsukuyomi which is the ability that was used on Kakashi in episode 82 of the first series. The first two abilities made a debut when used by Itachi in shippuden 138.
