The Lord of the Flies has several conflicts. There is a man-vs.-nature conflict with the boys trying to surviving on the island. There is man-vs.-man conflict between Jack's tribe and Ralph's tribe. Most importantly, there is man-vs.-self conflict as each of the boys has to combat the beast within. This is sort of resolved by the boys being rescued and returned to a "civilized" society; however, the civilized society is in the midst of a World War. The message is that there is always evil present in man.
