There is a unique wand for every wizard in the Harry Potter series, by JK Rowling. In her books, each kind of wand consists of a four major components... 1.) Size- each wand has a different length and circumference. 2.) Wood- there are many different kinds. Some examples are birch and vine wood. (I believe there are many others too.) 3.) A core- gives a wand its magical properties. There are three kinds. Phoenix feather, unicorn hair, and dragon heartstring (whatever that is...) 4.) and finally, the wizard who wields it! After all, "the wand choices the wizard!"
Harry Potter's wand is made of holly with a phoenix feather core, specifically the tail feather of Dumledore's Phoenix Fawkes. Fawkes gave one other feather that was in the wand of Lord Voldemort, thus making Harry and Voldemort's wands brother wands. This is important for later plot in Book 4 and Book 7. Harry's wand is 11 inches long.

Essentially yes. All magic wands in Harry Potter are made from various types of wood, in Harry's case this wood is Holly. They also contain a core, typically dragon heartstring, phoenix feather or unicorn tail hair. There are other wand cores, although they are not generally used in British wands and don't appear frequently in the series. Harry's wand contains a phoenix feather.
Despite many fans wanting to know, Rowling has yet to divulge this information. We do know that the wand in the movies was of a black wood - possibly ebony - but this is uncertain, and it is unclear if it coincides with the books.

The wand that Voldemort (Tom Marvolo Riddle) uses is made of Yew, and is 13 1/2 inches long. Inside is a single Phoenix tail feather from Dumbldore's Phoenix named Fawkes. Harry Potter's wand also has a single Phoenix feather from Fawkes, that is why Voldemort and Harry have a connection when there spells collide (as seen on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).
Voldermort's wand was 13½ inches, made out of yew wood with a phoenix feather core.
