one that was published was in 1970, just one year before his untimely death in an

airplane crash in Virginia. Some of the artists that recorded his songs were Charlie

Pride, Jerry Wallace, Dean Martin, Jimmy Dean, Porter Waggoner, Roy Clark, Bonnie

Guitar, Teresa Brewer, and Eddy Arnold. He also wrote several poems throughout

his life, two of which became very famous. Dusty Old Helmet is one, the other was
