There isn't a Hogwarts in real life, it is a fictional school. Most of the scenes were filmed in a studio. Some of the exterior scenes in the first two movies were shot at Alnwick Castle in England.
First year students are required to bring three sets of black robes to Hogwarts.
No, the students don't need to have "Hogwarts: A History". It's not on the equipment list of the students, but it's available in the library of Hogwarts.
You are 11 when you receive your letter and you arrive the following september.
Black.
Students are classified by their year of study. There are seven years at Hogwarts, named first year, second year etc. Students study their O.W.L's from their third to fifth year and their N.E.W.T's in fifth and seventh year.
Black, like everyone else.
No. First years at Hogwarts are 11-12 years old and seventh years are 17-18. Hogwarts includes high school aged students, but is not exclusively a high school.
No. Care Of Magical Creatures is an elective that Hogwarts students can take in second year, along with Divination or Ancient Runes.
From the first year it self students at Hogwarts have The Defence Against The Dark Arts subject. The depth and difficulty increases year by year.
The person who takes Harry from the Dursleys, was Hagrid.
New students were required to purchase, uniform, a wand and various books among other things. They also needed robes, parchment and quilbs. Students were given the option of bringing a pet but were not allowed broomsticks.
An important thing at Hogwarts is the four houses; Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. They gain house points by answering questions well, helping other students, and things like that, but you can also loose points by making mischeif. Another important thing would be becoming a prefect, or head boy/girl to know-it-all, or goody-goody students. Hogwarts has a forest in which they call "the Forbidden Forest". There are a few crazy creatures in there such as Unicorns, Centaurs, ect. People believe there is a Giant Squid in the Black Lake, and that would be fun to play with, unless it strangled you to death first. What makes Hogwarts so special is what they teach there. Fun things to do at Hogwarts would be playing Quiddich, practicing spells, going to Hogsmeade, searching Hogwarts for secret passageways, and playing pranks on other students. I forgot to mention, kicking Mrs. Norris. -Wink wink- Hogsmeade is a wizard villiage with a whole street of shops and such. You can get candy from Honedydukes and a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, or the Hogshead, along with a lot of other places. If I were at Hogwarts, I'd love to make a cauldron blow up in Snapes (Who died, -sniff-), or Slughorns face. (: Lol.
