The starting stats are the same. Their typing and abilities, as well as their leveling up pool, are where they differ. Mew is great because it can learn literally any move in the game. From TMs, TRs in Sword and Shield, Move Tutor moves, etc. If there is a way to learn the move, it can be learned. The only exceptions are moves that are taught exclusively to certain Pokemon, like Draco Meteor, being only taught to Dragons by the tutor, or the elemental hyper beams being taught to the final evolutions of each starter. This doesn't mean Mew cannot learn them in the lore; it only means these tutors will not teach Mew. So, with Mew, the possibilities are endless, with the most common being a special attacker. Its leveling pool is also geared toward being a more offensive mon. Where Jirachi excels is in its ability to use Serene Grace, which doubles the chances of additional effects of moves being applied, and its steel typing. Both of these allow Jirachi to wall a lot of mons and survive hard attacks. First off, it can learn "Wish", which heals for half its max HP. Second, it has access to cosmic power, which raises its defense and special defense by 1 stage each. So immediately, you have access to defense boosts and healing. It also has access to a plethora of moves with secondary effects, like Zenheadbutt with a Flinch chance and Meteor Mash for the Attack stat being raised. In BDSP, its access to moves is more on the special side, allowing The starting stats are the same. Their typing and abilities, as well as their leveling up pool, are where they differ. Once access to them opens up, it gains access to Iron Head for more flinch, Play Rough for attack reduction of the target, and the elemental punches to inflict various statuses like Burn, Freeze, and Paralysis. Both mons are very versatile, but between the two most competitive players, I would choose Jirachi for the defensive capabilities it has. Using both on an in-game team, though, still works in your favor, though. I mean, 100 base stats across the board is fantastic.
