The difference is that the Blue-ray player records info in blue rays which have a shorter wavelenght so they can record and improve sound and picture. The DVD player records in red rays which have a longer wavelnght so picture and sound are watered down.

The difference is between DVDs and blurays. Bluray discs hold more information and so the movie which is on the disc can be in higher definition. A DVD does not have enough room to hold an HD movie.

Blu-ray movies have very unique features. Blu-ray movies are able to take advantage of HDTVs in a way the DVDs can not. The most obvious difference though between the two is that Blu-ray movies have a capacity store a lot more than DVDs.

The most important thing to remember is your type of TV. If you don't have a good Hi-Def television, its not going to make a lot of difference. However, if you have the right TV and an HDMI hook up, Blu Rays are said to provide the "Ultimate High Definition Experience." If you have a good sound system you will also notice an difference in the Audio playback; with a Blu Ray player its usually clearer.

The picture in a blueray film is much more clear and vivid. It must be played on a blueray machine.
