You can choose to play rhythm which you strum along with the song but you choose when to put the sound in, you can play with the songs and when it is time for you to strum you strum and it will let you know if you messed up or not. Or you can play freestlye which is the coolest mode and you jam out and make songs. Get to freestyle by holding mode then pressing Fret 4 (the one that says Freestyle)

Actually yes there is. Well, not really not strumming, but close to it. You have to hold your elbow on the strum bar down the whole song. Then just keep pressing the fret buttons! I did it for through the fire and flames and it rocked!
