To be more specific, she starts out the song mentioning a time when someone gave her advice about love:
"Someone told me I should take/caution when it comes to love"
But because of several factors - "you were strong and I was not... I was careless, I forgot" - she didn't take caution and jumped into a relationship despite warning signs about the guy.
Now she is speaking after the end of a tumultuous relationship - "Tell them I was happy/and my heart is broken" - and this is when she feels vulnerable and weak - "All my scars are open", "And if you're done with embarrassing me..." because she feels foolish for ever loving a guy who treated her so badly.
