Saying that some one has been taken short means that they have gone to the toilet.
Depends on two things: how old the concept art is and who you're planning on selling it to.
(pg. 109) "…He pulled distastefully at his grey shirt and wondered whether he might undertake the adventure of washing it. Sitting under what seemed an unusual heat, even for this island, Ralf planned his toilet…" Toilet in this context means "the act or process of dressing or grooming oneself" which can be assumed by reading the rest of the context after this sentence.
Ralph is the only boy who truly recognises the significance of Simon's death. Piggy is ready to lay part of the blame on Simon himself and the dance, the Twins are in total self denial and Jack dismisses the entire episode as a 'trick' played by the beast. Ralph alone gives the deed its true name, murder, and Ralph alone seems to realises the depths to which they have sunk and the ferocity of their attack. Ralph too realises that having gone this far Jack and his tribe are now capable of almost anything.
In chapter 5: Beast from Water Ralph tries to put a stop to some things which he feels are going wrong with the boys' society on the island. He reminded the boys that they all agreed to use certain rocks, which were swept clean by the sea, as a toilet but chastised them because some of them were using the area of the fruits as a toilet, which was unhygienic. He also told the boys off for allowing the fire to go out, reminding them that it was their only hope of being rescued. Ralph also unsuccessfully attempts to convince the boys that there is no such thing as a beast. Ralph is essentially frustrated with them all because they fail to grasp the importance of carrying through their own decisions. He feels that they are allowing temporary and unimportant issues to stand in the way of what really matters, which is getting rescued.
