In chapter 5: Beast from Water Ralph tries to put a stop to some things which he feels are going wrong with the boys' society on the island. He reminded the boys that they all agreed to use certain rocks, which were swept clean by the sea, as a toilet but chastised them because some of them were using the area of the fruits as a toilet, which was unhygienic. He also told the boys off for allowing the fire to go out, reminding them that it was their only hope of being rescued. Ralph also unsuccessfully attempts to convince the boys that there is no such thing as a beast. Ralph is essentially frustrated with them all because they fail to grasp the importance of carrying through their own decisions. He feels that they are allowing temporary and unimportant issues to stand in the way of what really matters, which is getting rescued.
Ralph held numerous assemblies but I am assuming that your are referring to the one he called in chapter 5: Beast from Water. Ralph wanted to set some things straight, rules relating to using the rocks near the sea as a toilet, keeping smoke showing as a signal and having only one fire lit and this he managed to do. However Ralph's prime purpose was to end once and for all any talk of the existence of a beast. In this he failed because at the end of the meeting there was an overwhelming vote in favour of belief in ghosts. Rationality had lost to superstition.
In the book you learn some last names like Jack's but you never learn Ralph's.
By the time that Ralph and Piggy go to Castle Rock to demand the return of Piggy's stolen glasses the only other biguns who remain loyal to Ralph are the twins Sam and Eric. And then, Jack makes "SamnEric" join his tribe, so they eventually leave Ralph too, leaving only himself and Piggy.
Ralph never really tries to get rid of jack, he just doesn't approve of some of his ideas. later on in the book (ch.11) Ralph and Jack fight and Jack tries to murder Ralph (ch.12)by sending his tribe after him and setting some of the island on fire. I hope you read the book already. I don't want to ruin it for you!
Ralph is thinking about how Jack would be a better leader than him because he taking control and leading everybody up the mountain so Ralph is having some thoughts
Ralph holds an assembly to establish rules, prioritize rescue, and maintain order on the island. Some concerns he brings up include the need for shelter, the importance of the signal fire, and the fear of the beast.
Jack calls an assembly to establish rules and order on the island. During the assembly, he asserts his authority and promotes the idea of hunting and fun over responsibilities like maintaining the signal fire. The result is a division among the boys, with some following Jack and others remaining loyal to Ralph.
