Well, first off, its called Catching Fire and you must read it!!! Also the third one will be called MockingJay coming out August 24, 2010...anyways, back to your question:
Katniss must prove to President Snow that she "really does" love Peeta, though he knows she doesn't, she has to prove to the Capital that she does.
Also, Katniss and Peeta go to all the districts, and do what the victors do after they win. They also go to parties and stuff in the Capital. Katniss and Peeta are also planned to get married, even though Katniss doesn't truly love him:( But she's stuck between Gale and Peeta. But, Katniss is supposed to marry Peeta. So then they start to choose wedding dresses for Katniss and they have it on tv and everything. And the whole time Katniss is trying to build up her relationship with her mother. But that only the first little part of the book. This is what the rest is about: its the 75th Hunger Games and that means its a special year. The Quarter Quell. One year, the year Haymitch was in The Hunger Games, they had 4 tributes from each district instead of 2. This year....instead of choosing 1 boy one girl from the districts, they choose 1 boy VICTOR and 1 girl VICTOR. As in, people who already won The Hunger Games....they have to go back. No matter how old they are. (by the way, President Snow like "drew it out of a hat" you know what I mean...not really a hat) And Katniss, is the only girl who has won, from District 12. Haymitch was pulled, but Peeta insisted on protecting Katniss. So they both went, as well as the other contestants. And its really really good, and I think you'll like it:) None of that was really a spoiler though, cuz that's what pretty much the whole book is about. but if you DO want a tiny spoiler.....
.....
SPOILER:
Katniss nor Peeta dies. they aren't killed. and no one wins.....at the end something happens and READ TO FIND OUT
It's kinda hard to explain but basically peeta forgives katniss and they become friends (again). They go on the victory tour and (just for the cameras) peeta proposes to katniss (she said yes). They get houses in the victors village and Gale gets a job in the cole mines. later, it's announced, that for the 75th quarter quelle, it will be all victors that go back in the arena (1 girl victor and 1 boy). So katniss obviously goes cuz she's the only girl, and haymitch's name gets pulled out but peeta volunteers. And ya they go thru the parade again and the interviews, but at the interviews, peeta announces katniss is pregnant (not true). Oh ya, turns out haymitch made a promise to katniss to keep peeta alive but he also made a promise to peeta to keep katniss alive. Anyway, later in the arena haymitch and Plutarch (new head gamemaker) rescue katniss and a couple others from the arena but peeta gets captured by the Capitol. If u think about it, this is one of the parts where katniss sees she does love peeta, because when she finds out they let the Capitol capture him, she punches haymitch in the face. In the end it's told that the capitol bombed district 12
SPOILERS ALERT!
You could just read the book, but here's an overview anyway.
In the second book, catching fire, the third quarter quell begins. The tributes are drawn from the pool of existing victors. Katniss and Haymitch get selected but Peeta volunteers to take Haymitch's place. The victors are sent in to the arena to fight but many of them unite and help to begin the rebellion against the capitol. During the quell many are organising to get the victors out of the arena but Katniss does not know of these plans. The victors have sworn to protect Katniss even if it costs them their lives as Katniss will be the face of the rebellion as the mockingjay. Katniss and her allies worked out that the arena is in the shape of a clock. During their time in the arena Haymitch and the other mentors send bread to them symbolizing the Day and time they would rescue them. Katniss did not work out what the bread meant though. Katniss ends up blowing up the arena by using the force field that surrounds the arena to her advantage. Most of the victors get out of the arena when the people from 13 come and save them except Peeta is taken from the arena by the capitol and held captive in the capitol.
I think that's it! :D
