It means no one under 17 admitted. Even if accompanied by a parent or guardian. The old X rating is now the NC17 rating. Back in the day the X rating was given for extreme violence (Robocop got an X rating at first, until they trimmed a lot of the shotgun killing at the beginning.), extreme gore (The first Dawn Of The Dead was rated X, until Romero decided to release it unrated) or for pervasive sexuality (Midnight Cowboy was rated X, and was the first X rated movie to win an oscar. It has since been re-rated as a R The same with Fritz The Cat which added drug use to the sex.) It almost sounds like the X rating is a catch-all for anything someone at the ratings board is bothered by, doesn't it?
