  • The main idea of The Hunger Games the book itself is that people can create a destructive world.
  • The main idea of the Hunger Games is to show how people, no matter how big or small, can overcome any problem they put their mind to. It also shows the incredible cruelty of dictators and how people can mindlessly go along with things just because others may be doing it.

The country of Panem, shining with its twelve Districts and Capitol, is about to go through another session of The Hunger Games. There was a rebellion 74 years ago with the districts against the Capitol. The Capitol won, destroying District 13 in the process. When the war was over, The Capitol forced the districts to, each year, send a boy and a girl to a death match. Seventy-four years later, in District Twelve, Katniss Everdeen is entering for The Games when they call her sister, Prim Everdeen. In an attempt to save her from The Games, Katniss volunteers for her sister, and that is when they call the boy, Peeta Mallark. When she goes to the Games, she tries to stay in an alliance with Peeta, but knows that she will eventually will have to kill him. When the peacekeepers announce that the contestants can have a partner and can both win, Katniss and Peeta stay with each other. When it comes down to Katniss and Peeta, they then announce that there cannot be two winners, but in an act of rebellion, Peeta and Katniss each grab a handful of poisonous berries, threatening to kill themselves. The announcers quickly say that they can both win, so Katniss and Peeta both win The Hunger Games.

well i think that the whole point is that there where 13 districts and the capital, but the 13th one rebelled so the capital bombed it and they formed the hunger games to be sure that the districts would not rebel again. they would select one male and one female tribute and send them to the arena to fight to the death and the tribute who won would get to live in peace at victors village and you have to read the books to find out what happens
