There's actually a whole manual that can tell you that.
It's called The Hunger Games (Book)
But if you wanna be LAZY and just go see the movie, than i would strongly suggest it.
It's about a girl who is living in poverty under the Capitol's control. She lives in district 12. There are 11 more districts and the capitol. That is the world. A war (dark days) between the capitol and the 13 districts 75 years ago caused the capitol to take over and completely destroy the 13th district as a display of power. Ever sense, the capitol puts on an event every year to desplay it's power over the districts called the Hunger Games. In the hunger games, 2 people (a boy and a girl) from each district must travel to the capitol leaving all friends and family behind and act as 'tributes' for the game, which is pretty much; the 24 tributes are thrown into an unknown terrain and forced to fight to the death, and stay alive. There is one victor, all others must die for the games to be over.
