According to Ethan Embry, the gifted actor who plays the tortured cop "Declan Giggs," Showtime canecelled the series without any prior notification. As far as he knew, they were going forward with a fourth and final season.
It seems the show, as amazingly good as it was, did not attract the viewers Showtime had hoped. They were banking on an exodus from HBO after the end of "The Sopranos," but that didn't happen.
BTW, Ethan is a pretty good guitar player. My hope is to see more of him in the future.
