Robotnik Prime is long gone, dead, never coming back, but only in flash backs and stuff like that. He got replaced by a different version of himself, so at the same time he is not dead. So pretty much Robotnik is still around.

Why was Sonic Underground cancelled?
Most people didn't like Sonic Underground so they cancelled it. Personaly, I liked Sonic Underground and still watch episodes on youtube. It is a shame they cancelled it. Because of this, Manic, Sonia, and Sonic never meet up with their mother, defeat Dr. Robotnick, or fulfill the prophosy.
