Heather joined KUSI in Aug 2008. She, as most TV news people in SD do, signed a two year contract. She decided not to renew her contract. She left KUSI in Aug 2010. She still resides in San Diego and is taking a break from the news business.
As I understand it, his contract was not renewed. He was one of the premiere local news anchors and could command a higher salary + long-term contract. Without that contract, he was free to leave KUSI-TV and seek other opportunities at other news stations, as well as retiring. It seems that he's gone into semi-retirement since he's quite visible on the FOX5 Morning News programme a few times per month. He's been in the news business for 30 years, I think the politics and KUSI's lack of commitment are probably to blame for his earlier-than-desired retirement. Best of luck to him. He was (and still is) a San Diego legend!
waht happened to frank buckley on ktla news
KUSI removed Elizabeth Alvarez from the anchor desk as part of a broader restructuring within the station's news team. The decision may have been influenced by various factors, including changes in programming strategy, audience engagement metrics, or personnel adjustments aimed at refreshing the news lineup. Such changes are common in the media industry as stations adapt to viewer preferences and market dynamics.
As of my last update, KUSI News in San Diego features several anchors, including Elizabeth Alvarez and Jason Austell, who typically co-anchor the evening news. Other notable team members may include other journalists and meteorologists, but specific personnel can change frequently. For the most current information, it's best to check KUSI's official website or their latest broadcasts.

Dan Plante was allowed to leave San Diegoâ??s Kusi TV news after about 15 years of service. This was after some racist remarks he made.
