After Simon has regained consciousness after his epileptic attack he knows that the 'beast' is just a part of each and every one of them. He therefore climbs the mountain to see for himself what it was that Samneric, and later Ralph, Jack and Roger, mistook for a real beast. Simon find the dead body of an airman, which is made to move in a life-like manner when gusts of wind catch the parachute which is still attached to the body. Simon frees the trapped parachute lines from the rocks, which allows the figure to slump at rest, no longer a puppet at the mercy of the wind.

Simon says the beastie is a snake, but we don't know for sure. It could be him just immagining it. You know how sometimes little kids get scared over silly things like there own shadow. You have to remember that they are on an island be themselves so they are Little worried. I hope that helped. ( The answer is snake) Don't worry I've read the book

The beast was the Lord of the Flies. It was "speaking" to Simon about how it is only the boys who are evil, not any sort of creature that is responsible. Simon's death is untimely, because he was about to tell everyone that the beast was actually a dead pilot, but now no one will ever know.

That the "beast" is just the dead body of the pilot whose parachute lines have become tangled around the rocks on top of the mountain.

Simons death in Lord of the Flies?

Yes he was. He had just found out that the beast lives within and was going to tell all the boys. But the boys were having a feast and partying. When he comes out of the jungle, the boys think he is the beast and stab him to death, everyone takes part. The next day everyone realizes it is Simon; yet no one will admit it was. :)

In Lord of the Flies what does Simon mean when he says what I mean is maybe it's only us?

Simon's comment was about the beast. He suspected that the beast was not an animal and obviously didn't believe that it was a ghost. This left only one remaining possibility, that there was no beast. Simon believed that the beast was simply a product of the boy's own imaginations. The beast only existed in their own minds. However there was a deeper reasoning to Simon's comment. Simone suspected that the beast wasn't just a product of the boys' own imaginations but was actually the boys themselves. It was the boys themselves who were the 'beast,' capable of hurting, of killing and of committing acts of evil.

Who says that there isn't a beast in Lord of the Flies?

Both Piggy and Simon deny the existence of a physical "beast" on the island. However, Simon believes that though not physical, there is a beast. Such a beast is the one that is inside all of the boys, and is inside all those of humans. The innate evil of mankind.

Who does Simon imagine the beast to be?

Simon told the other boys at a meeting that perhaps there was a beast and that the beast was just themselves. This indicates that Simon does not believe that the beast is a creature with wings, claws and teeth but that it is simply the boys themselves. The beast is just the desire and capacity to do evil which is within us all. Later in the book, after Samneric report actually seeing the beast, I quote... "However Simon thought of the beast, there rose before his inward sight the picture of a human at once heroic and sick."

Did Jack really think that Simon was the beast in Lord of the Flies?

No, Jack did not believe that Simon was the beast in "Lord of the Flies." He mistook Simon for the beast during a frenzied dance in the forest, but later realized his mistake and Simon's true identity.
