What gave Bilbo away to the goblins as he tried to escape out the door?

It was his shadow that almost got him caught. Bilbo had gotten wedged in the door, being a bit too fat to squeeze through the door. The sun coming through the door cast a very weak shadow that the goblins saw.

∙ 14y agoNo, he doesn't. He was seen for a few moments when the ring came off his finger, and in the confusion he was able to sneak out the door, losing his vest buttons in the process.
