The Akatsuki caught sight of Deidara, and Pain ordered Itachi Uchiha, Sasori, and Kisame Hoshigaki to recruit him. Itachi made a bet with Deidara, saying if he lost, he would have to join Akatsuki. If Deidara won, he would leave him alone. Deidara was easily defeated by Itachi's Sharingan and joined Akatsuki. This fight created Deidara's loathing for the Sharingan, and a huge impact on his egotistical personality.

∙ 13y agoSasori needed a partner since orochimaru left the akatsuki, he was sasori's partner. Pein the akatsuki leader, sent sasori, itachi, and kisame to get deidara. Once there deidara refuesd to join so itachi made him a deal. If he won deidara will have to join by force, and if deidara wins, itachi will leave him alone and leave. Because itachi used the sharingan deidara had lost. THERE YOU HAVE IT.

REASON. because the third hokage orderd itachi to kill his clan because the uchiha clan was going to take over leaf village.

deidara he will have to join.......and thus deidara was easily defeated by itachi and was forced to join...........

∙ 13y agoHe didn't join, he was forced to at age 14. Kisame, Itachi, and Sasori were sent to get him. Deidara wasn't interested at all. In fact Itachi and him fought a little. Itachi said that if he (Deidara) lost he (Deidara) would have to join. And Deidara did lose when Itachi used his sharingan on Deidara. X( it's in volume 39

Orochimaru is a killer, he was hired by Pain/Pein to join the team. he was also exiled by the 3rd hokage(Sarotobi) because he experimented infants. That's why he betrayed konoha. and joined Akatsuki.
