In the aftermath of the Cyclone- when the film goes from Black and White to color- and multi-colored horses make the scene- when Dorothy revives, she finds she is in or near a Poppy field. ( I had no idea that this was an allusion to Opium use and abuse- as Opium is derived from the Poppy flower) Being a big city man- hey, a flowery field is a flowery field- some critics jumped on this as an allusion of a drug (trip) It is strange, but the whole thing is wildly impossible- turned out to be a nightmare- that broke all the rules- and made a bundle of Green stuff.
