American Pit Bull Terriers are generally smaller but fight better since they were bred for fighting their own kid. Don't get me wrong though, pit bulls are NOT the strongest or best fighting breed.
If you removed the fur of all the dog breeds, the best fighting breed altogether is the Bull Terrier. However, big dogs such as the Caucasian Shepherd and Komondor along with others are mucb bigger,stronger and have a lot of protective fur, so the Bull Terrier can't bite their throat.
Though I do NOT condone nor do I agree with or sympathize with dog-fighting. As a child, I grew up with pit-bulls and Dobermans. They would get into squabbles and the most serious one, Trouble, the pit-bull, was uninjured and Angel, the Doberman, died.
