A.C.E. in a movie's credits will usually be seen after a film editor's name, if he or she belongs to the American Cinema Editors guild, an organization that was started in 1950 by two Paramount Studios film editors.

From the guild's homepage:

"From its inception the ACE membership (is) committed to the encouragement of mutually-beneficial dialogue with other members of the motion picture industry and to educating the general public."
