When Lady Gaga was in high school (her real name btw is Stefani Germanotta), she didn't fit in with the rest of the students and was considered a "freak". She used this negative comments and put it into music and took it to several record companies. Many of the companies turned her away, saying that she had nothing special until Akon herd her and decided to add her to his record company RedOne. From then on, she has been a music and fashion SUPERSTAR.

So I guess that you could say that she had to overcome all the doubts people had in her to become "famous"
