What color is Alan rickmans hair?

In the earliest pictures of Alan his hair appears to be dark blond, the sort of hair color that during summer months would be lighter on top and darker almost brown in the lower layers. Interviewers nearly always referred to him as a sandy blonde when he first appeared on the scene in the US. Now in his sixties he's gone white around the edges but seems to periodically die his hair a sort of strawberry blonde for various roles.
