Well, over the years, Dream Theaters' style has changed, and they have at some points really shown their influences. There more progressive rock style is similar to Rush, who I would say is the closest band to their style. The more metal area is a bit different as their early stuff is similar to Queensryche and even Iron Maiden, whereas there metal nowadays is a bit more modern sounding, with some metalcore influences sometimes(yeah, it sucks). Another band that can sound like them at times is Symphony X. But overall, the closest sounding band is Rush.
