I just went and got a paper jamz and yes they do have there own songs but you can play freestyle and it is really cool. You can choose to play rhythm which you strum along with the song but you choose when to put the sound in, you can play with the songs and when it is time for you to strum you strum and it will let you know if you messed up or not. Or you can play freestlye which is the coolest mode and you jam out and make songs. Get to freestyle by holding mode then pressing Fret 4 (the one that says Freestyle)

There are lots of good songs that are appropriate for a 7th grade party. You can check your local radio stations for stations that are geared towards that age. For example, Radio Disney would be a good example of what to play for 7th graders.
