The career tributes in The Hunger Games are generally the tributes from districts one, two, and four. In the first book, these tributes are Marvel and Glimmer from District 1, Cato and Clove from District 2, and two unnamed tributes from District 4. In the second book, District 1's tributes are Cashmere and Gloss, District 2's tributes are Brutus and Enobaria, and District 4's tributes are Finnick Odair and Mags.

In the book, they are described as being incredibly dangerous tributes from wealthier districts who have (illegally) trained for the hunger games for much of their lives. It is also mentioned that they have no fear of being selected to compete, unlike most contestants who were unwillingly forced to compete.
There is no camp for the Careers. They band together and move around the arena.

The career tributes often act inhumanely in the hunger games because as they come from the richest districts of Panem, they have been able to afford training with weapons prior to the games themselves. This pre-training has given them an unfair advantage to the rest of them so this is why they are superior in physical combat, etc.
