∙ 11y agoIn the story The Hunger Games, the united states has been spilt into 13 districts, all run by the Capital. The districts try to rise up against the Capital but 12 districts were defeated and the 13th district was destroyed. So as a reminder of the "Dark Days", The Capital holds an annual Hunger Games. To punish the districts for uprising and showing the districts that they are at the mercy of them, how they can kill their children.

∙ 12y agoThe Hunger Games is an event in the fictional setting of the country Panem. 24 tributes (2 kids from each of the 12 Districts, one boy, one girl) are chosen out of a drawing to fight to the death in a televised arena.
The Hunger Games were started by President Snow, because he believed the people of Panem needed to be reminded of the "Dark Days," the days in which the world broke out in a war, then President Snow "raised it out of the ashes."
The Games are also President Snow's way of demonstrating that the government has complete control over the people, and to deter them from attempting to rise up and rebel again.

This is an event in which the participants (or "tributes") must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one individual remains.

THe Hunger Games is where 24 children fight to the death until only one stands. Suzanne Collins came up with this idea from watching the news about Iraq. The Games are for the people of Panem's enjoyment. The evil Presidaint Snow came up with this idea.

I think the problem was when Katniss held out the nightlock berries in The Hunger Games and 'defied the Capitol'. But I know she started an uprising in district eight. That's when other districts started uprisings. And then Katniss decides to be district thirteen's mockingjay and leads the rebels. I don't want to ruin the book for you, but if you've already read them all, that's what mostly happens.
