Rock around the clock Shake, rattle and roll Dim, Dim the lights
Just take those old records off the shelf I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself Today's music ain't got the same soul I like that old time rock and roll. Don't try to take me to a disco You'll never even get me out on the floor In ten minutes I'll be late for the door I like that old time rock and roll I like that old time rock and roll That kind of music just soothes my soul I reminisce about the days of old With that old time rock and roll Won't go to hear 'em play a tango I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul There's only one sure way to get me to go Start playing old time rock and roll Call me a relic, call me what you will Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill Today's music ain't got the same soul I like that old time rock and roll Still like that old time rock and roll

they played a sort of alternative rock depending on the instrument If you were looking for a general "catch-all" classification, probably pop or rock. They covered a lot of musical ground including Rock and Roll, Rock, Hard Rock, Country, Blues, Ballads, Psychodelia, Instrumentals, Soul, Folk, Indian, ie. not stuck in the rut of just one musical genre. The Beatles' music influenced their contemporaries, and those who came after them. It appealed to all age groups and to people all over the world.
Yes, he is- he turns 71 on the 28th December. Two years ago, he came out of retirement to perform at England's 'Rhythm Riot' rock n' Roll Festival, where he sang many of his old classic songs to a delighted audience.
If you are talking about Rock & Roll, it came out in the 1950's
There is no one person that created rock and roll. This genre of music came about in the 1940s and 1950s. Elvis Presley is the most covered artist for rock and roll, in fact he is known as the King of Rock and Roll.

Rhythm and Blues
R&b and Country form the basis for rock.
The Ramones song "Rock & Roll High School," came out in 1979. It was part of the soundtrack of the Ramones movie by the same name.
Elvis had many Genres, including; rock n' roll, rockabilly, pop, R&B and chapel. The song Jailhouse Rock in my opinion fits under rockabilly- its more country/rock than just pure rock.. oh and Jailhouse rock came out in '57 as Elvis came out of his Rockabilly style of music

Some white guys tried to play Rhythm and Blues in the early Fifties. It came out sounding really wierd, with all these hillbilly trappings. This was the beginning of rock 'n roll.
Micheal Jackson was King of Pop. Elvis Presley was THE KING; he was rock 'n' roll (rock and pop came later).
Rock is a derivative of the Blues. What differentiates the Pentatonic Scale (The Rock 'n Roll Scale) from the Blues scale is the flatted fifth. The Blues Scale has the flatted fifth and the Pentatonic does not. The flatted fifth note gives the music a much bluesier sound. A lot of people give Blind Lemon Jefferson Credit to Rock music, but the name for Rock 'n' Roll didn't come around until 1951. Alan Freed, a dj from Cleveland, Ohio, is the person that has been credited for coining the phrase, "Rock 'n' Roll". From my knowledge, there is not a definitive point to where Rock came about, but with all the music I have studied and listened to....I believe it came from Blind Lemon Jefferson. As far as that goes, its possible he got the idea from someone else who did not have a name or a record deal. It is something that slowly evolved, and didn't completely come about until the British invasion in the 1960's. The reason I do not say the 1950's, is because Elvis' style of music was considered to be Rockabilly. At that point in time, "1950's Rock 'n' Roll" had not evolved into Rock 'n' Roll. It was a strong blend of Country, Gospel, and the Blues that had yet to be blended well.
I heard that Michael Jackson said it came out in the 1950s and actually meant groupies/sex.
