Pitch. I know because I had that question on my homework about a month ago
The highness or lowness of a sound is determined by its frequency, measured in Hertz. (Hz) The lower a sound is, the more distance it can travel. A low sound is felt as well as heard. (Hence, the term "Feel the Bass".) The higher a sound is, the less distance it can travel. On a piano, chords sound better at a higher sound rather than a lower one, because chords sound rather "mucky" at low frequencies. Higher keys on a piano will not have as long-lasting a sound as lower ones.
