I remember hearing this story being told on another singers album, but I can't remember who it was. It was something like this:
Some of the boys were performing together somewhere and were sharing a hotel room. During the night, Mel thought he heard someone breaking in the room, but when he tried to warn the others who were sleeping, he kept stuttering and couldn't spit it out. So he sang "There's a burglar breaking in our window!" This woke everyone up and it ended up being Johnny Paycheck trying to open the window because he was drunk and he had lost his key.
