Social graces are skills used to interact politely in social situations. They include manners, etiquette (the specific accepted rules within a culture for the application of universal manners), deportment and fashion. These skills were once taught to young women at a finishing school or charm school. The focus of social graces has changed over the last century, recently with an emphasis on business etiquette and international protocol.

Examples Of Social Graces:

- Saying thank you

- Saying excuse me when going past someone.

- Holding doors for someone.

- Respecting driving rules, suck as not talking on the phone while driving and cutting people off because your mouth is running!

- Not using signals, cutting people off while driving.

- Saying I'm sorry when you do something wrong.

- Making people wait for you

- Saying please

- Respecting someone's name by not calling someone out in a public situation, or embarrassing them.

- Not Pointing at someone.

- Not Staring at someone.

- Not Chewing Gum or food loudly, or with mouth open.

- Not Talking loudly in public.

- returning phone calls or correspondences.

- keeping promises.

- teaching your child manners in public!!!

- taking a crying child away from the theater, restaurant, grocery store, etc.

- covering your mouth and nose when you sneeze!!

- Not Wearing Vulgar clothing or not wearing a shirt in public.

The short and always all-encompassing answer is the Golden Rule . Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
