Lord of the flies how has Jack's personality developed during his stay on the island?

I don't think that Jack's personality does develop over the course of the novel. At the start Jack was in command of his choir and immediately sought to have himself elected as the leader of all of the boys. Jack enjoyed exercising power over others and that was his main driving force over the entire course of the book. The only difference at the end was that he no longer felt confined as he had when he was a part of a civilised society. The wearing of 'war paint,' killing of pigs and the killing of Simon and Piggy had all served to remove any last vestiges of restraint allowing im to do anything that he wished without any need for explanation or remorse.

When we first met jack, he had a slight friendship with Ralph. However this failed to last most likely due to jacks jealously as chief. Throughout the story jack begins to get more aggressive but at times shows signs of a civilised nature which suggests there is a form of hope for jack. However someone like roger who every time is mentioned is talked about doing something bad. There is much less hope for. But Jacks decent into savagery is one of the easiest to understand being one of the main characters. But the idea of evil existing inside all of us suggests the struggle he has the longer he is on the island away from civilisation. A* ....... maybe
