When we first met jack, he had a slight friendship with Ralph. However this failed to last most likely due to jacks jealously as chief. Throughout the story jack begins to get more aggressive but at times shows signs of a civilised nature which suggests there is a form of hope for jack. However someone like roger who every time is mentioned is talked about doing something bad. There is much less hope for. But Jacks decent into savagery is one of the easiest to understand being one of the main characters. But the idea of evil existing inside all of us suggests the struggle he has the longer he is on the island away from civilisation.
