Joni James is still recording! Her most recent recordings are not yet released and are intended for a West Coast jazz C.D. The songs are standards, a few of which she has previously recorded, but mostly songs she has not before recorded. Those who have heard these recordings say it is the best work she has ever done. She has eight songs finished and intends probably to do eight more for a 16-track album but with the trend going back to a dozen songs on C.D.s as in the L.P. days she may do 12. Prior to these recordings she did recording in Chicago, Los Angeles and Nashville and some of those appear on the splendid C.D. "Joni James' Latest and Greatest Hits." They were arranged by her original arranger, Lew Douglas, and she sounds as young as ever and as thrilling as ever. Listen to "You're Changing My Mind Again" for starters.
