Trigun is a legendary anime TV series from the 90's. Set in a Sci-Fi wild west world (desert setting), which is very nicely drawn. The creators of the series really managed to transfer that futuristic wild west feel to the scenery . Music is also pretty good. Lot's of action and comedy moments. It has Good story; consists of 26 episodes
There's supposed to be an ova and a movie coming out or so they say. Apparently the movie is supposed to come out this year sometime. During the last Anime Expo which I attended, they showed a trailer saying it to be original with some new characters. The storyline itself is original but based on the anime. As for the OVA, as far as I am concerned; that is still a rumor.
26 episodes .
In my personal opinion? My main attraction to anime is the visual aspects of it. Something that is so incredibly implausible in live action can be stunning with anime. The characters in anime are often attractive, much like the beauty of a painting, yet many are very unique. I enjoy the character developement and growth that is often paramount in such shows, and the mystical aspects range from ancient Japanese mythology to vampires to giant robot suits to a strange blending of several different sources. Things that seem impossible can be stretched in an anime, and stories can be explored that would otherwise be dismissed as out of reach. But then again, that's just me. Some of my all-time favorites, if you're interested, are... FullMetal Alchemist (my first real all-fire anime, very appealing in many different senses, and right in the middle as far as anime show lengths go (51 episodes)) Trigun (shorter than FMA (around 25 episodes) and more focused on comedy, but some great animation and surprising depth at times) Samuria Champloo (the show with the oldest setting (Edo period Japan), it's centered around 3 characters, all of whom are very different. The music, especially the opening, rivals Cowboy Bebop as some of the best, but in a hip-hop manner, as opposed to Cowboy Bebop's retro rock n' roll. My personal favorite character is Jin, but that's for you to decide. This is another short anime, about 25 eps) Cowboy Bebop (one of the more eclectic animes, it's very well-recieved and well rendered that has a unique set-up. One of its main strengths is the music, and is a shorter anime) Wolf's Rain (emotionally deeper and a little more complex than say Trigun, it is nonetheless evocative and powerful. This is what can be considered as an animal-changing anime. FMA is a learned power anime, much like Bleach. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop are fighter animes focused on singular characters with a web around them, while Samurai Champloo is a fighter episode with three characters of equal import.) And, if you're up for a long show, Bleach (A lot of Jonny Bosch's voices (you'll hear him in Trigun and Wolf's Rain) are some of my favorites, and I adore Ichigo (the main character) almost as much as I like Vash (the main character in Trigun with the same voice actor). The story is a unique one, and, though a long show (over 100 episodes), it has the range of emotion throughout as FMA with the same good fighting scenes that aren't drawn painfully out.) If you're interested, head on over to JustDubs.net to check these out (that sight has all of these shows). If you're interested in subtitles, you'll have to look elsewhere. So watch an episode or two, and see if it grabs you. If you find them lacking after two episodes, don't waste your time. A good anime grabs you and holds you tight within an hour. Hope this answered your question!
