In the Lord of the flies Why does Simon ask what is the dirtiest thing there is?

He ask to make the boys realize that the beast may be them, because where the grown ups are there is a war going on and everyone is fighting and the main thing they want is control, power and when they want that a certain quality inside them awakens like in the boys as soon as they got on the island they realized there were NO grownups no one to tell them what to do and they voted who was going to be chief right out that moment you realized that Jack was arrogant and controlling and when Ralph got that power he was upset. Ralph gave jack power which was the wrong thing to do because throughout the story these qualities in Jack are awakening and when you get to chapter five the island is in complete chaos. What Simon is trying to make them realize that it may not be actual beast but them because everything is in turmoil. He is the symbol of peace and that is a big thing to understand, because he is the one who realizes that beast aren't actually beast, but the people who most represent beast (Jack, and his followers).
